Arlington High Best Buddies are Thriving!
The Arlington Best Buddies chapter has been in full swing this year! The chapter has been hosting monthly events at school, meeting up to enjoy lunch with one another or students have been just stopping by to hang out! Arlington B.B. will be hosting a ‘Spread the Word to End the Word’ assembly for the entire high school the second week of March. The overall time that the buddies have been putting in to building friendships has been valuable. We are all so happy how the Arlington Best Buddies chapter has grown!
What better way to celebrate John Chapmans (Jonny Appleseed) birthday then a trip apple picking! This past Thursday the entire Arlington program headed out to Acton, Massachusettes to visit Shelburne Farm. After a pleasant hay ride through the orchard the students hopped off and made there way tree by tree hand selecting the apples that caught their eye. Their were both Macintosh and Cortland apple trees to pick from. After filling our apple bags to the brim we headed down to the pumpkin patch where the kids got to pick out a pumpkin to take home. All that apple picking sure worked up are appetites, so we sat down and enjoyed are lunches in the picnic area. For dessert the kids enjoyed apple cider donuts accompanied by some refreshing apple cider to help wash them down. Lastly before making are way to the vans to head home we stopped by and said hi to some of the animals that live on the farm. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, nothing but sunshine on a perfect autumn day. Everyone had so much fun on the trip and we are looking forward to seeing are friends at Shelburne Farm again!
